DO YOU ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT YOUR SCHOOL?

Yes, we do. For English speaking students, we offer our International Film Program, Second Year Programs and the Acting Program.

Non-EU citizens need to apply for a visa to study in Sweden. Read more about visa for students here.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY TO THE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS?

To apply and become admitted to either the International Film Program or the Acting Program, you need to have a highschool certificate/diploma, or such. If you don’t have this, depending on your other experiences, we can make an exception. Please write to us and let us know your situation.

You need to speak, read and write English. We do not have any requirements of test results from official English tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, etc.

You need to submit a complete application to be in the admission process.

ARE THERE MANY APPLICANTS?

Yes, we have many applicants and a policy that a class will never exceed 22 students to ensure good quality of education..

HOW LONG ARE THE STUDIES?

Our International Film Program and Acting Program is both one year long, divided into two semesters.

Our intensive courses (Film 10 weeks, Scriptwriting 10 weeks and Acting 10 weeks) are ten weeks long and held in the evenings.

CAN THE SCHOOL PROVIDE ACCOMMODATION?

Stockholm Film School does unfortunately not have the possibility to offer accommodation for students.

We recommend you start looking well in advance and many of our students share housing. The average price range for rooms in Stockholm is €400 to €1000 a month depending of the distance to the city centre.

Remember to never pay before signing a contract and seeing the room/apartment.

HOW MUCH IS THE TUITION FEE AND WHY DOES IT COST MONEY?

The tuition fee for our international programs is € 12.000 per academic year. The tuition fee includes everything regarding your education – we provide all necessary equipment, software for editing, etc, and all students have 24h access to the school premisses.

CAN I APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP OR STUDENT AID FOR MY STUDIES?

Our international programs are not qualified for CSN (Swedish student financial aid).

Unfortunately, we do not offer scholarships for our students.

We focus on practical training and how to work on a filmset. We prepare you to work in the film industry and all our teachers are themselves active in the industry.

HOW DO I APPLY TO THE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS?

You apply via a form that is available on our web page. When we have received your complete application, you will be scheduled for an interview online.

WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO ATTACH TO MY APPLICATION?

Attachments for applying to the International Film Program:

  • CV
  • personal letter – maximum one A4 page
  • photo of yourself
  • a script for a short film you have written
  • copy of your passport

COURSES

WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES FOR APPLYING TO FILM -10 WEEKS?

FILM-10 WEEKS is well suited for those who have already started exploring film as a means of expression – perhaps you have made some films on your own, or taken a video editing course, or perhaps you have written a script that you want to develop into a film idea. It also suits you who have experience in other creative fields, such as still photography, design, visual art or journalism.

The course is for you who want to immerse yourself in the knowledge you already have and want to create films supervised by professional filmmakers. The course is for you who want to get a network of film colleagues with the same serious goal, to one day be part of the film industry.

As the course takes place in the evening, it is suitable for you who want to be able to combine education with work. The course is for you who during ten intensive weeks want to create film, talk about film, discuss film and realize your own and others’ cinematic ideas.

WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES FOR APPLYING TO ACTING – 10 WEEKS?

ACTING – 10 weeks is both suitable for you who have some experience in acting and wish to get deeper knowledge and more training, and you who are taking your first steps to learn the basics and fundamentals of acting in front of the camera.

The course is well suited for people in the industry, event and stage artists who want to develop in acting, both in theater and film as well as beginners.

The course is suitable for you who want to invest in acting, but may not have the time or finances to take a longer full-time course.

The course is also suitable for you who plan to apply for a higher education in acting, and gives you the right knowledge and experience to increase your chances of getting admitted to such education.

SCRIPTWRITING 10 WEEKS

Utbildningen riktar sig till dig som vill arbeta professionellt som manusförfattare inom film och TV.

Kursen lär dig grunderna i SCRIPTWRITING.

  • Dramaturgi – Vilka beståndsdelar krävs för en berättelse?
  • Premissen – Vad är berättelsens kärna?
  • Tema – Vilken historia vill du helst berätta och varför?
  • Dialog – Information och undertext.
  • Stil – Realism eller förhöjd, det egna uttrycket.

HOW MUCH IS THE COURSE FEE FOR THE INTENSIVE COURSES?

The course fee for our shorter intensive courses is 29.000 SEK.

CAN I APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP OR STUDENT AID FOR THE INTENSIVE COURSES?

We do not offer scholarships for students.

Our shorter intensive courses are not eligible for Swedish Student Financial Aid (CSN).
