Yes, we have many applicants at Stockholm Film School, but your chances are as great as any other’s!
After two years at our school you have professional training in practical filmmaking. What you become is up to you, but we have given you the tools and the experience that enable you to either work as an assistant within several capacities in the film industry, or to apply with good chances to a higher education, such as Stockholm University of Fine Arts (Stockholms Dramatiska Högskola). You can read more about what our former students do today here.
The course is planned and structured around the two years. After completing the course you graduate. Students who choose to only attend one year receive a diploma.
If you already have work experience from the film business, or have attended another similar education, or in any other way have obtained the necessary pre-qualifications which equal year 1, you may apply directly to year 2.
All tuition fees go straight into the operation of the school, and pay for the school’s expenses.
Stockholm Film School is run by a non-profit association and its members. No money can be yielded as profit, everything goes straight to the running of the school. As a result the members are in full control of shaping the education. As a student you have the possibility of becoming a member and thus influence your own education.
Yes, the education is qualified for CSN (Swedish student aid), which means you can apply for student grants and loans. You can also apply for a supplementary loan from CSN to pay the course fee. Read more about the grant and loan.
Yes, we do. Unfortunately, we don’t have an education entirely in English. We have had foreign students many times (including this year), all our teachers speak English and can usually explain everything in English to the non-Swedish speaking students, and some classes can even be held in English. However, this is a Swedish school and we always recommend all students to have some knowledge of Swedish, to take part in all information given, to be able to read manuscripts written in Swedish by the other students and to be able to direct actors whose first language is Swedish, since the general language of communication is Swedish.
Tell us if you have no place to live. We can help you get in contact with other students and applicants. Sometimes people are looking for a roomie!

All tuition is mandatory. Each subject teacher states the individual pupil’s opinion, either passed, or stroke (not attended.) To pass (which is necessary to qualify for the next year and/or graduation,) a full or minimum 80% attendance is required for all teaching occasions (including lectures,) and completed exercises. If you get sick or encounter any other unavoidable obstacles which hinder you from attending a lesson, please contact the teacher in question and see if you can catch up in any other way. It is also important that you inform the school of your absence as soon as possible. A certificate with transcripts of all completed courses will only be handed out to students who have completed the whole education to the last term/semester, and paid in full. If the student has missed any parts of the course this will be noted in the certificate.
The partial payments will be invoiced to the students or to a by the student advised firm or legal person – in two invoices, which expire before the start of each term/semester according to given dates on the invoice. When nonpayment according to invoice occurs, statutory fees will be added.
If an applicant who has been accepted to the school and paid the admission fee decides not to start the course at autumn our spring term, the film school must be notified as soon as possible, at the very latest August 1:st or s/he is obliged to pay the remaining tuition fee 81.500 SEK according with the sent invoices.
